Strawberry Whine
I've heard many concerts with better sound quality; however, if you crank it up, it's hardly a reason to discount this recording and performance. Also, it'd be great to edit the front part of Strawberry Wine/ make it into multiple tracks so you don't have to deal with the false start or banter, which is beyond decent but moderately annoying.
There were many dick-faced assholes in the audience.
People talking during a song like Strawberry Wine is reprehensible. After that episode, the song selection's rollicking.
Second set's a bitch but you get to listen to Ryan regulate. However he backtracks on his lesson in common decency and ethics. Should have stuck to his message.
Ryan starts the first set with 4 unreleased songs, which really have a whiskey-and-coke flow to them. Ending how whiskey nights end ("September"). The Trains -> Mockingbird segue shows the Cardinals progressing musically to what we now take for granted. In all he plays 7 tunes that hadn't been released yet. Maybe a set list exclusively made up of "Gold," "Rock N Roll" and "Come Pick Me Up" would've shut those insolent bastards up. The improv tune, the penultimate track, really hangs those folks; too bad they probably left immediately after "NY,NY."

This has grown on me...
I saw this show live and I remember how pissed I was at Ryan for getting all drunk and argumentative during the show. Going back, of course, it holds up much better. "Magnolia Mountain" is surprisingly good considering the Cardinals probably had to beg him to come back out after his final rant. After that, he spit on the audience and dumped half a bottle of wine on the stage. However, the recording sounds phenomenal compared to what I heard before. "A Kiss Before I Go," "To Be Young," and "Trains" are all spectacular.

EXCELLENT
I was honored to witness this amazing performance. it was great to hear a little banter between Ryan and the crowd, it gave a little more sense of intimacy. the setlist is killer.

in my opinion
this is the best sounding show of 2005, nice work funky advocado...and special thanks for getting it out there! very different show, i can't understand why people would talk during a show like this.

Great Job!
I was at this one. The famous 'Philly' show. Unfortunately, elements like a crappy PA, morons at the bar and maybe a little bit too much liquor (?) came together to create a show a little bit more reminiscent of his earlier wild days. Still, it was a great show.
The recording is awesome. It sounds great.
One note: he didn't play "When Stars Go Blue". It was actually "La Cienega Just Smiled". Other than that though, this is flawless.
